I’ve been a member of St. Martin’s for a loooong time, since 1962, I think. But not so long, since John and I stopped attending church for about 20 years beginning in the late 1980s. Why? Don’t remember, but what is important is the love and rejoicing at my return in 2007 for John’s funeral. It was as though I had never been away, but had been in your hearts all along. Met with hugs and smiles. By the way, St. Martin’s possibly has the best huggers in the entire Episcopal church, maybe the entire Christian tradition! During this time of “social” distancing, I miss my hugs more than most anything else. What is still there is the unwavering love that wraps around me and everyone else in the parish. We are caring and concerned. While I suspect that we will continue to wear masks for some time, I can hardly wait to get back to seeing my friends on a regular basis – and hugging them!
