Membership

St. Martin’s has two types of membership: Baptized Members and Confirmed Members.

Baptized Members are . . .

Babies and children baptized at their parents’ request.

Adults of any age who ask to be baptized here.

Adults baptized elsewhere who join St. Martin’s by letter of transfer.

Confirmed Members are . . .

Those baptized as babies and children who wish to confirm their baptism as adults.

Adults who have never been baptized who wish to be baptized and confirmed at the same time.

Adults baptized and confirmed elsewhere who join St. Martin’s by letter of transfer.

Which type of membership should you, as a new member, choose? The choice is a highly personal one. Adults may join as baptized members and consider confirmation at a later date or join as confirmed members right away. Both baptized and confirmed members make annual pledges to support the ministry of the church.

Baptism

Baptism is the outward and visible sign of an inward and spiritual grace. In the Episcopal Church, it is the sacred rite of initiation, one of the five sacraments. Through Holy Baptism, God adopts us as God's children and makes us members of Christ’s body, the church, and inheritors of the Kingdom of God.

St. Martin’s conducts baptisms during the 10:00 a.m. ONE St. Martin's service and the 11:00 a.m. worship service, typically with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. Baptisms are held at least four to five times a year. A baptism workshop is conducted the Saturday morning prior to your scheduled baptism day at 10:00 a.m. Parents and godparents should plan to attend.
